$145K Ag innovation challenge open for entries

By Jamie Martin

The American Farm Bureau Federation, in collaboration with Farm Credit, has announced the 2025 Farm Bureau Ag Innovation Challenge. This national competition, now in its eleventh year, seeks innovative entrepreneurs addressing the needs of America's agricultural community. With $145,000 in startup funds available, the contest supports startups revolutionizing farming, ranching, and rural life.

Entrepreneurs are encouraged to apply online by June 15, aiming for the grand prize of $100,000. The competition progresses through several stages, beginning with the selection of ten semi-finalist teams, announced on September 3. These teams will then virtually pitch their ideas to secure a spot in the final four, who each receive $10,000 and compete live at the AFBF Convention in San Antonio, Texas, in January 2025.

The challenge not only rewards the top innovator with a significant sum but also provides vital exposure in front of Farm Bureau members, investors, and industry experts. Previous winners, such as Barn Owl Precision Agriculture and NORDEF, showcase the competition's ability to elevate groundbreaking agricultural technologies.

Eligibility for the contest requires membership in a county or parish Farm Bureau. Those not yet members can find information on joining at the Farm Bureau website. This contest is a unique opportunity for agricultural entrepreneurs to accelerate their business growth and contribute to the sustainability and efficiency of American agriculture.
