ADM Upgrades Clinton Iowa Corn Plant to Speed Harvest Deliveries

ADM Upgrades Clinton Iowa Corn Plant to Speed Harvest Deliveries

By Andi Anderson

ADM, a global company known for agricultural processing and food solutions, has announced a major investment to upgrade its corn processing facility in Clinton, Iowa. The project focuses on improving how quickly and efficiently corn is received, especially during busy harvest periods.

The company will install two new high-speed receiving pits. Each pit will be capable of handling up to 25,000 bushels of corn per hour. Along with this, ADM will expand grain storage capacity and improve key infrastructure within the facility.

These changes are designed to make the movement of corn smoother and faster, from delivery to processing.

One of the key goals of the upgrade is to reduce the long wait times farmers often face during peak harvest seasons. Faster unloading will allow farmers to spend more time working in their fields and less time waiting in lines.

"We're investing to position our Clinton, Iowa, corn processing facility for continued success while dramatically improving the experience for our farmer partners," said Tim McHenry, vice president, North America Grain & Feed. "These upgrades will help farmers spend less time waiting and more time in the field and help ADM continue to connect those farmers and their crops to the many markets we serve."

The project also includes improvements to inbound scale systems and paving parts of the access road. These changes will reduce dust and ease truck congestion, which will benefit both grain transporters and nearby residents.

"Farmers want a simple, efficient experience when they arrive -- pull in, unload and get back to the field," said Peter Bortoli, regional operations manager. "This project will allow us to receive corn faster, improve reliability and offer a better experience for our farmers and our community."

Construction work and equipment sourcing are expected to involve local contractors and suppliers, creating economic opportunities in the region. ADM has been part of the Clinton community for over 40 years and continues to support local development.

The receiving pits are expected to be ready by the end of 2026, while storage upgrades should be completed by summer 2027.
