The American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) provides $500 mini-grants annually to Collegiate Farm Bureau chapters across the U.S., aiming to enhance student involvement in agriculture. These grants support projects that foster leadership skills, effective communication, and community engagement.
South Dakota State University used their grant to organize a day-long industry tour with Mitchell Technical College and Lake Area Technical College.
The event included a dairy farm visit, networking opportunities, and leadership activities, benefiting 42 students who found the experience highly valuable.
Murray State University’s chapter applied their grant to attend the national Young Farmers and Ranchers conference in Omaha, Nebraska.
Seven students and two advisors participated in discussions, community service, and workshops, which fueled their desire for continued Farm Bureau involvement.
The College of the Ozarks partnered with Bridge of Faith to expand their community garden project. With their grant, they provided new composting and irrigation equipment, and Collegiate Farm Bureau members actively volunteered, enriching the program’s impact.
Washington State University used their mini-grant to attend the Washington Farm Bureau’s Annual Meeting. The funding helped cover travel expenses and allowed students to participate in the Discussion Meet and engage with agricultural policy discussions.
