AgCountry Farm Credit Services runs the Working Here Fund Grant Program to support nonprofit organizations working in rural communities across North Dakota, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. The program is dedicated to funding community-driven projects that improve rural living conditions and address critical needs.
Grants are available in various amounts to fit the size of the project. Organizations can apply for up to $5,000 grants awarded quarterly. Larger projects may qualify for $15,000 or $25,000 grants, which are given out twice a year. However, the total grant amount an organization can receive is capped at $25,000 within a five-year period, and generally, only one grant per organization per year is awarded.
Eligible projects must benefit communities within AgCountry’s service region and focus on areas like agriculture education, hunger relief, rural health services, and disaster assistance. For instance, funding can go toward farm education programs, food security projects, health initiatives in rural areas, or aid during natural disasters.
Though nonprofits do not strictly need an IRS 501(c)(3) designation, preference is given to those who have it. The application process includes a review by AgCountry’s internal committee. Funding is not guaranteed, may be partial, and is strictly for community-beneficial purposes.
Certain requests are not eligible, including political activities, personal projects, sports teams, religious programs, private hobbies, or anything that does not align with AgCountry’s mission.
The application deadline for grants up to $5,000 is September 30, 2025. Requests for larger amounts up to $15,000 or $25,000 must be submitted by December 31, 2025.
