Building Healthy Garden Soil Online Workshop

University of Minnesota Extension educators are offering a free educational webinar titled Inputs and Outputs Building Healthy Garden Soil as part of the sixth annual Gardening from the Ground Up webinar series. The session will be held online on Monday, February 16, 2026, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Central Time.

This webinar focuses on the importance of healthy soil, which is the foundation of successful gardening. Participants will learn what makes soil healthy, how to read soil test reports, and how to improve soil structure fertility and biological activity. The session is designed for both beginners and experienced gardeners who want to grow strong, productive plants.

The event is part of a weeklong series that includes five practical sessions led by Extension experts. Topics cover soil health soil microbes understanding garden product labels adapting to changing growing conditions and proper harvest and storage of garden produce. Each session provides science-based information that can be applied to home gardens.

Additional sessions will be held from February 17 to February 20 covering soil microbe's product labels air quality and produce storage. Recordings of all sessions will be shared with registered participants after the series concludes. This allows people who cannot attend live to still benefit from the content.

As an added benefit, registered participants will be invited to Garden Buzz in summer 2026. This program offers live monthly question and answer sessions with Extension educators from May through October.

The webinar series is delivered in English and is free to attend. Registration is required to receive the webinar link, and only one registration is needed for all five sessions. Interested participants can register using the following link:

The program is organized by the University of Minnesota Extension, which is committed to equal access. Accommodation requests should be made at least two weeks before the event.
