The Minnesota Soybean Research & Promotion Council (MSR&PC) is now accepting research project proposals for the fiscal year 2025.
The Request for Proposal (RFP) aims to gather pre-proposals from investigators and collaborators to improve environmental stewardship and enhance the production profitability of soybean farmers in Minnesota.
Interested applicants must submit a cover sheet, full project proposal, and budget template to projects@mnsoybean.com by 5 p.m. on December 6, 2024.
The MSR&PC is seeking projects in the following key areas:
- Soybean pest management
- Agronomic research and technology transfer
- Soybean breeding, molecular genetics, and functional genomics
Tasked with overseeing soybean checkoff investments, the Council focuses on three core areas: research, education, and promotion. The RFP process ensures that checkoff investments address challenges and opportunities for Minnesota’s nearly 26,000 soybean producers.
“For these proposals, we tend to see everything from cutting-edge soybean breeding genetic research that might be 10 years down the road to nutrient management surveys to research projects that address weed management,” said David Kee, MSR&PC director of research.
Successful proposals will improve the profitability of Minnesota soybean producers while promoting awareness of the value of soybeans and soybean products to industry, influencers, and consumers. This initiative plays a critical role in directing future investments and advancing the competitiveness of Minnesota's soybean industry.
Soybean researchers and experts are encouraged to submit proposals that address these critical areas, fostering innovation and growth in the soybean sector. The RFP process is vital in ensuring that Minnesota soybean growers continue to benefit from well-directed investments in research and technology.
