Capture farming - Indiana's photo contest

Capture farming - Indiana's photo contest

By Andi Anderson

Every June, the Indiana Agriculture Photo Contest opens its doors to photographers eager to share their vision of what makes Indiana farming unique.

This contest, running since 2008, offers a platform for both amateur and professional photographers to display the beauty and importance of agriculture in Indiana.

Participants can submit photos in several categories including "On the Farm," "Faces of Agriculture," "Agritourism," and "Conservation."

These categories are designed to highlight the diverse aspects of agriculture in Indiana—from the daily grind on the farm to the people who make it all possible, the attractions that draw visitors, and the efforts to preserve the environment.

To enter the contest, photographers must fill out a Photo Contest release form, available in both Microsoft Word and PDF formats.

Each photo requires its own release form, which can be submitted in Word, PDF, or JPG format. Submissions should be emailed, along with the photo(s), to photocontest@isda.in.gov throughout the month of June.

Winning photographs will receive the honor of being framed and displayed in the Offices of the Lt. Governor’s Family of Business in Indianapolis and winners will be special guests at the Celebration of Agriculture at the Indiana Statehouse.

Here, they will be presented with a certificate by Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch.

This contest is a great opportunity for Indiana’s photographers to showcase their talent and for the public to gain a deeper appreciation of the state's agricultural heritage.

Whether you're taking pictures of peaceful landscapes, farmers at work, new farming methods, or how nature and farming interact, your photos can show what Indiana farming is all about.

Don't miss your chance to be a part of this cherished Indiana tradition. Submit your photos and celebrate the beauty and significance of agriculture in Indiana.
