CAST Rising Redbirds Honors Emerging Professional Leaders in 2026

Illinois State University’s College of Applied Science and Technology (CAST) will host the 2026 CAST Rising Redbirds induction ceremony on Wednesday, April 15.

The event will take place in the Aaron Leetch Stadium Club at Hancock Stadium and is open to all members of the campus community. Guests are invited to attend a morning coffee reception from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., followed by the official ceremony beginning at 9:30 a.m.

The CAST Rising Redbirds program recognizes exceptional alumni who have demonstrated leadership, commitment, and excellence within their professional fields.

These individuals represent the diverse departments and schools within CAST, and their accomplishments serve as a source of encouragement for students pursuing similar career paths. Each inductee is honored for their dedication to service, innovation, and continued engagement with the university community.

The 2026 Rising Redbirds class includes alumni from a wide range of disciplines. Representing agriculture is John Heiser, a 2011 graduate whose work contributes to advancements within the agricultural sector.

For criminal justice sciences, the inductees include Gio Circo, who earned both bachelor’s and master’s degrees by 2012.

Family and Consumer Sciences is represented by Sara Krewson, who completed her master’s degree in 2011 and has built a strong professional career supporting individuals and families.

In the field of health sciences, Eddie Gordon, a 2017 graduate, is being recognized for his contributions to public health and safety.

Information technology honoree Ramtin Davanlou, who earned a master’s degree in 2014, has demonstrated professional growth in the evolving field of digital systems and computing.

The kinesiology and recreation category features Lindsay Vahl Dean, a two‑time ISU graduate whose work supports wellness and community engagement.

Lastly, the technology inductee is Troy Deiss, who completed both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees and continues to contribute to technological advancements and industry development.

The Rising Redbirds ceremony celebrates the achievements of these distinguished alumni while strengthening bonds between current students and graduates. The event not only honors excellence but also highlights the meaningful impact CAST alumni make in their professions and communities.
