Celebrate Spring with Wine Inspired by Easter Colors

Celebrate Spring with Wine Inspired by Easter Colors

By Andi Anderson

Easter is a season of renewal, joy, and colorful celebration. As friends and families gather, spring wines bring vibrant colors and flavors to the table, just like the decorated eggs we enjoy.

A soft purple wine, like a young Chambourcin, is ideal for welcoming guests. Its fresh color and light flavor are perfect for pairing with appetizers at the start of a gathering.

Warm yellow wines, such as un-oaked Chardonnay, offer a crisp, light body that pairs well with spring salads. These wines are gentler than their oak-aged versions and reflect the season’s freshness.

Pale pink Catawba wines offer a soft, sweet flavor and grape-like aroma. This sweetness matches perfectly with traditional Easter dishes like honey-cured ham, providing a delightful taste contrast.

Fresh green shades of Pinot Gris are a spring favorite. The wine has a fresh, light taste and pairs beautifully with a variety of buffet dishes, making it perfect for family meals.

A richer pink can be found in a Cabernet Franc Rosé. This well-balanced wine pairs wonderfully with spring lamb, especially when prepared with a mustard rub.

For bold wine lovers, deep plum shades of Cabernet Sauvignon or Cabernet Franc offer a rich experience. These wines go well with sharp cheeses and are ideal before switching to lighter summer sips like Riesling.

Celebrate these wines at Vintage Ohio South, on Saturday, April 12 from noon to 5 pm at Champion Mill Conference Center in Hamilton, Ohio. The event includes wine samples from 11 Ohio wineries, live music, and local vendors. Tickets include wine samples, a glass, and snacks, with early buyers receiving extra goodies.

Wineries include Brandeberry, Caesar Creek, Dragonfly, Olde Schoolhouse, and more. Buy tickets at www.OhioWines.org or call 440-466-4417.

Raise a glass to spring and enjoy the season with wines that taste as beautiful as they look.
