Join us for an enriching day at the Southeast Research Farm on Tuesday, July 9, from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. CDT. Located at 29974 University Road, Beresford, SD 57004, just six miles west and three miles south of Beresford, this event promises insights and updates co-hosted by SDSU Extension, the South Dakota Agricultural Experiment Station at SDSU, and the Southeast South Dakota Experiment Farm Corporation.
The schedule kicks off at 1:00 p.m. with registration, followed by engaging plot tours starting at 1:30 p.m. After a refreshing SDSU ice cream break, the afternoon continues with more plot tours and indoor presentations beginning at 3:30 p.m.
Participants can explore a wide range of topics including small grains and forages, hybrid rye varieties, winter annual forages, alfalfa hay preservation techniques, warm season forages, corn and sorghum intercrop silage, oat varieties, and advancements in microbial applications for corn production.
Additionally, there will be discussions on pest and disease management in crops, weed management strategies for 2024, horticulture insights including sweet corn with clover living mulch, and ongoing trials in potato varieties.
Indoor presentations will cover diverse subjects such as honeybees, a climate update for the 2024 growing season, developments in precision agriculture, and initiatives like the Climate Smart Program.
