Dairy Feed Research Event Returns

Dairy Feed Research Event Returns

By Andi Anderson

The 2026 Four-State Dairy Nutrition and Management Conference webinar series will continue May 27 with a special online program focused on evaluating and feeding roasted high oleic soybeans in dairy cattle diets. The educational webinar will provide dairy producers, consultants, nutrition specialists, and industry representatives with the latest research and management information related to soybean processing and dairy cow nutrition.

The webinar will begin at 12 noon CDT and continue until 1:30 p.m. on CDT. The session will feature Assistant Clinical Professor of Precision Dairy Nutrition at The Pennsylvania State University Leoni Martins, who will discuss recent studies involving soybean processing methods, laboratory testing techniques, and the nutritional effects of heat-treated soybeans on dairy cattle performance.

Heat-treated soybeans continue to receive attention as a valuable feed ingredient for dairy operations because they may help improve feed efficiency and support better farm economics. Researchers explained that differences in processing conditions can strongly influence nutrient availability, feeding value, and overall dairy cow performance. Proper processing methods are important to maintain feed quality and maximize nutritional benefits.

The webinar also will examine how soybean processing affects protein and fat nutrition in dairy cows. Participants will learn how precision feeding strategies may improve nutrient delivery, support milk production, and increase nutrient use efficiency within dairy operations. Additional discussion will focus on improving animal health while reducing environmental impacts connected to dairy production systems.

“Heat-treated soybeans represent a valuable feed ingredient for dairy producers, with the potential to improve on-farm feed economics.” The webinar presenters explained that understanding soybean processing characteristics can help dairy operations make informed feed management decisions and improve overall herd performance.

Research and Extension programs connected to the webinar continue focusing on precision dairy nutrition and its relationship with lactational performance, feed efficiency, and sustainable dairy production practices. Organizers noted that educational programs like this provide dairy producers with practical information that can be applied directly to farms.

The webinar is free to attend, but participants must register online at least one hour before the program begins. Registration is available through the official conference website at Four State Dairy Webinar Registration.

Additional information about the webinar series is available through extension contacts in Iowa, Minnesota, Illinois, and Wisconsin who are helping coordinate the educational program for dairy producers across the region.
