Explore Industry sustainability with Steve Evens

By Scout Nelson

Steve Evans, director of research in industrial sustainability at the University of Cambridge, will present a Heuermann Lecture titled “Industry and Sustainability: What Next? And What’s Next?” on Dec. 4 at Nebraska Innovation Campus.

Evans specializes in identifying practical methods for industries to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and lower greenhouse gas emissions. His work emphasizes the need for innovation, collaboration, and effective performance management to achieve sustainability goals.

Highlighting the urgency of these issues, Evans noted that half of the world's edible food goes uneaten, and only 10% of processed material reaches customers. His lecture will provide actionable insights, outline long-term goals, and explore opportunities for advancing industrial sustainability.

Notable examples of successful strategies by companies such as Toyota, Chanel, and Airbus will be featured in the presentation, demonstrating how innovation can address sustainability challenges.

The lecture will take place at 3 p.m. at the Nebraska Innovation Campus Conference Center, followed by a reception at 4:30 p.m. The event is part of the Heuermann Lecture series, sponsored by B. Keith and Norma Heuermann, dedicated supporters of Nebraska agriculture, natural resources, and rural communities.

This lecture offers a valuable opportunity to learn about the latest advancements in industrial sustainability and the actionable steps industries can take to promote a more sustainable future.
