Great American State Fair Tour Begins

Great American State Fair Tour Begins

By Andi Anderson

President Donald J. Trump has officially launched the year-long Great American State Fair, a traveling celebration marking 250 years of the United States. The announcement was made at a large gathering at the Iowa State Fairgrounds, highlighting the kickoff of a national series of events that will take place at state and county fairs across the country.

This special initiative, called America 250, aims to honor the country’s founding, history, and people. The celebration will end on July 4, 2026, with a grand festival on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., where exhibits from all 50 states will be featured.

As part of this national effort, U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke L. Rollins issued a proclamation urging all states to integrate America 250 programs into their state fairs. The proclamation draws inspiration from past events like the 1876 Centennial and the 1976 Bicentennial Exposition, calling on Americans to reflect on the legacy of liberty and agricultural progress.

“For nearly 250 years, the Great American Experiment has stood as a beacon of liberty, forging a path that has saved the world from tyranny and secured peace and prosperity for billions. The display of America’s strong livestock, bountiful harvests, rich communities, and thriving families at state fairs across the nation is evidence that the vision our founders cast 249 years ago endures. As we approach our nation’s 250th birthday, I call on all Americans—including state leadership at every level—to celebrate the achievements of our nation surrounded by the families and patriots who have dedicated their lives to feeding, fueling, and clothing our country for centuries,” said Secretary Rollins.

Over 35 states have already joined the initiative, planning events that include fireworks, veteran tributes, and historical exhibits. States like Alabama, Mississippi, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wyoming are leading the way with their own proclamations.

The most patriotic fair of 2025 will be honored in 2026 on the National Mall. Meanwhile, another highlight is the Great American Farmers Market, to be held during National Farmers Market Week, August 3–8, 2025.

The next year will be filled with patriotic events encouraging Americans to unite, celebrate history, and showcase the best of the nation’s agriculture and heritage.
