Honouring Meyer's 25 years in Beef Education

By Scout Nelson

T.L. Meyer, Nebraska Extension Beef Educator, is celebrating 25 years of service at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. Over the years, Meyer has held various roles that have contributed uniquely to her career and to Nebraska’s ranching community.

Meyer began her journey as a communications associate at the West Central Research, Extension, and Education Center. “I was originally drawn to the role at West Central because I wanted to return to the Sandhills of Nebraska that I was familiar with growing up,” she shared.

After four years, Meyer transitioned to a research technologist role, where she returned to hands-on cattle work and pursued a master’s degree in animal science from UNL. “Pursuing a master’s degree was one of the greatest perks that I could work on while being an employee at the university,” she said.

Throughout her career, Meyer has consistently combined her academic background in animal science and ag journalism. From her early roles in communications and research to her current position as a beef educator, she has supported ranchers in the Nebraska Sandhills by providing them with critical information and resources.

Her ag journalism degree also helps her connect with ranchers through social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and X. By sharing industry updates and opportunities, Meyer ensures ranchers stay informed and strengthen their operations.

Now in her fifth year as a Nebraska Extension Beef Educator, Meyer continues to make an impact on ranchers across the Sandhills and beyond. “The Beef State is the best place you can be a beef educator,” she remarked, highlighting her passion for her work and her home in Nebraska.

Meyer’s dedication over 25 years exemplifies her commitment to the ranching community, ensuring that Nebraska’s beef industry thrives in the years to come.
