ILCAE Celebrates 2025 Agriculture Education Award Winners in Illinois

The Illinois Leadership Council for Agricultural Education (ILCAE) hosted its 2025 award ceremony at Central IL Ag in Atlanta, Illinois, recognizing individuals who have made significant contributions to agriculture education. Representative Dan Swanson led the event, reflecting his ongoing commitment to youth education and agriculture.

The Bill Johnson Excellence in Education Award went to Bill Harmon of Lincoln Land Community College. His work has expanded programs, boosted enrollment, and led international educational opportunities.

Abby Coers received the Excellence in Agribusiness Award for her active support of Illinois FFA and agricultural education programs through Central Illinois Ag.

Phyllis Coulter was honored with the Excellence in Media Award for over 21 years of reporting on ag education through outlets like FarmWeek and The Pantagraph.

The Jim Guilinger Legislative Awards recognized Senator John Curran and Representative Kam Buckner. Both were applauded for championing agricultural education, ensuring bipartisan support and expanding urban awareness.

Four individuals earned Perry Schneider Special Recognition Awards:

  • Allie Bode, for managing 80 programs and supporting teachers statewide.
  • Lori Copsy, for over two decades of dedicated service ensuring smooth FFA operations.
  • Patti Davis, for helping educators focus on students through reliable support.
  • Tammy Yard, for her leadership and community-building among ag educators.

Ag Education Advocacy Awards were presented by region:

  • Rebecca Baney (District 1), for her transformational leadership in Kewanee schools.
  • Chandler Meyer-Brown (District 2), for strengthening programs in Chicago Public Schools.
  • Mark Berg (District 3), for 21 years of support on the Midwest Central School Board.
  • David Hartke (District 4), for alumni support at Teutopolis High School.
  • Rebecca Perry (District 5), for leading impactful ag literacy and outreach in Edwards County.

The event united educators, advocates, and policymakers to celebrate shared goals and continued support for Illinois’ future in agriculture education.
