Iowa Fall Workshops To Strengthen Grant Writing Skills

Iowa Fall Workshops To Strengthen Grant Writing Skills

By Andi Anderson

Organizations across Iowa will have the opportunity to improve their grant writing skills this fall through a series of virtual workshops offered by Iowa State University Extension and Outreach.

Designed for nonprofit staff, school administrators, and local government officials, the workshops will provide step-by-step guidance to help participants craft stronger and more competitive proposals.

The program, called Grant Writing 101, will be held on three separate dates: Sept. 17, Oct. 22, and Nov. 19. Each session runs from 9 to 11:30 a.m. and costs $40 per participant.

According to Lindsay Henderson, ISU Extension community and economic development specialist leading the training, the sessions are designed to give attendees practical tools and confidence.

“Grants are becoming more competitive. This training helps people understand the steps it takes to plan, write and submit a strong application. We want them to leave with the tools and confidence to take action,” she said.

Participants will also receive access to digital resources to support their grant writing efforts beyond the workshop. In addition, each live session includes opportunities for attendees to ask questions and receive direct guidance.

Registration deadlines fall two days prior to each workshop:

  • Sept. 17 session – register by Sept. 15
  • Oct. 22 session – register by Oct. 20
  • Nov. 19 session – register by Nov. 17

By equipping participants with essential knowledge and resources, these workshops aim to strengthen funding opportunities for Iowa communities, schools, and organizations.
