Iowa State University Extension and Outreach will hold a haying equipment demonstration field day on July 8 at the McNay Memorial Research and Demonstration Farm in Chariton, Iowa.
This hands-on event will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and aims to help producers explore new haying equipment and learn best practices for forage production.
Multiple demonstration sessions will showcase different types of haying equipment in action. These demonstrations will be led by industry experts from across south central Iowa. Attendees can also visit an equipment trade show area to inspect machinery up close and interact with company representatives.
“The Hay Day at McNay is a great opportunity to show off haying equipment for local producers, as well as discuss the ‘why’ behind each piece and where it could fit into their operation,” said Logan McCrea, ISU Extension field agronomist.
A general session led by field agronomist Meaghan Anderson during lunch will focus on weed management in forages. Other agronomists and beef specialists will be available throughout the event to answer questions related to forage and beef production.
The Lucas County Cattlemen will provide a free lunch for all attendees. The event will close with additional time at the trade show until 5 p.m.
Pre-registration is encouraged, though walk-ins are welcome. The event will take place at 45249 170th Ave., Chariton. In case of rain, the event will be moved to the backup date of July 16.
This field day offers a valuable opportunity for Iowa producers to gain practical knowledge and network with industry professionals.
