Iowa official visits Taiwan to boost ag trade

By Andi Anderson

Iowa Deputy Agriculture Secretary Grant Menke recently led a trade mission to Taiwan and Japan to promote U.S. agricultural exports.

While Taiwan may not be as large a market as Japan, it still offers significant opportunities for American farmers and producers.

Despite Taiwan's self-sufficiency in pork production, there are potential growth areas for U.S. agricultural products.

The U.S. Meat Export Federation has been actively working to expand market access in Taiwan.

Menke emphasized the importance of such trade missions in showcasing U.S. products to international buyers.

According to Menke, missions like these play a crucial role in introducing U.S. agricultural products to Taiwanese consumers and fostering stronger trade relationships.

By building relationships and highlighting the quality and safety of American agricultural products, these missions can help increase exports and benefit the U.S. economy.
