Iowa State Research Farms Announce 2025 Field Days

Iowa State University’s outlying Research and Demonstration Farms will host a full series of free summer field days in 2025. Each event highlights the latest in crop production, pest control, and conservation strategies.

Here’s a preview of the scheduled field days:

  • June 17 – Southeast Farm (Crawfordsville): Begins at 1:30 p.m. Topics include sulfur and nitrogen research, fungicides, and herbicide management. CEUs for crop advisers are available.
  • June 18 – Northeast Farm (Nashua): Starts at 11 a.m. with a free lunch. Features conservation partnerships, 2025 nitrogen strategies, and weed control. RSVP required by June 16.
  • June 26 – Northern Farm (Kanawha): A special open house marks the 95th anniversary and new facility. Tours, guest remarks, and a free dinner will be provided. RSVP by June 19.
  • June 26 – Armstrong Farm (Lewis): Begins at 10 a.m. Learn about grazing economics, soil function, water management, and disease control. RSVP by June 23.
  • July 2 – Weed Science Field Day (Ames): Morning tour with new weed control insights and demos. RSVP by June 25.
  • July 9 – Northwest Farm (Sutherland): Starts at 9:30 a.m. Topics include yield forecasts, 2025 weed strategies, and agronomic updates. Optional weed resistance roundtable follows lunch.
  • July 23 – FEEL (Boone): Morning event focuses on the European corn borer. Includes hands-on pest management training. $25/person.
  • July 24 – Northeast Farm: Drone Workshop from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., including classroom and flying practice.
  • July 30 – Southeast Farm: Strip-till Field Day showcasing equipment and management practices.
  • August 29 – Northeast Farm: Fall field day details to be announced soon.
