Jacob Klaudt has been welcomed as the new livestock judging coach and lecturer in the Department of Animal Sciences at North Dakota State University (NDSU). He officially begins his role on May 30.
Klaudt will help students grow through both classroom instruction and hands-on livestock evaluation. His work includes preparing students to compete in livestock judging contests and guiding them in developing key skills such as decision-making, time management, and critical thinking. He will also lead student recruitment efforts for the judging team.
Klaudt will organize and lead livestock judging camps, workshops, and clinics. These events aim to support NDSU's mission of offering practical learning experiences and strengthening its long tradition in livestock evaluation.
According to Guillermo Scaglia, head of the animal sciences department, Klaudt’s role will help improve both academic learning and competitive training for students.
Klaudt, originally from Beulah, North Dakota, brings with him many accomplishments. He was part of the 2024 National Champion Team and was named High Individual at the 2024 North American International Livestock Exposition (NAILE).
He was also a member of the 2024 American Royal Champion Team and earned top honours at the Jarold Callahan Memorial at the Cattlemen’s Congress.
He graduated from Kansas State University with a bachelor’s degree in animal science and a minor in mass communications. Before that, he earned associate degrees from Casper College in Wyoming.
Klaudt is excited to return to North Dakota and contribute to the growth of NDSU’s respected livestock judging program.
