The Kansas Beef Council (KBC) is expanding its nutrition outreach to healthcare professionals in 2026. This year, KBC distributed more of the Beef in a Heart-Healthy Diet and High Protein toolkits to nurses, dietitians, physicians, and other healthcare providers.
One key event was a nurse practitioner conference in Overland Park, attended by about 70 professionals focused on weight management. KBC provided High Protein in-office educational materials, which were well received. During the conference, Monica Reinagel, a registered dietitian and host of the Nutrition Diva podcast, led a keynote session.
She highlighted that nutrient-dense foods, like lean beef, are essential for patients with GLP-1 medications to maintain muscle mass while losing weight. She emphasized, “Adequate high-quality protein plays a critical role in preserving lean muscle, supporting satiety and helping patients maintain strength and metabolic health as body weight decreases.”
KBC also engaged with over 100 attendees at a cardiac rehabilitation conference in Kansas City. The participants included physicians, nurses, exercise physiologists, and registered dietitians. Many recognized KBC’s resources, confirming their usefulness in clinical practice. Feedback from the conference reinforced that beef checkoff educational materials are relevant and valuable for professional's supporting patients with heart health goals.
Additional outreach occurred through advertisements in three health professional publications during the first quarter of 2026. These placements reached a wide audience, highlighting scientific research supporting lean beef as part of a balanced, heart-healthy diet.
Through these initiatives, KBC strengthens connections with healthcare professionals, ensuring they have access to credible, evidence-based nutrition information to support patient care.
