Kansas students earn agriculture certificates

By Scout Nelson

Twenty-five high school students in Kansas have been awarded the Kansas Agriculture Skills and Competencies Certificate, a recognition given by the Kansas Department of Agriculture, recognizing their outstanding achievements.

The certification process required students to excel in classroom instruction, supervised agricultural experiences (SAE), and participation in FFA. They demonstrated their depth of agricultural knowledge, readiness for their future careers, and leadership abilities. Maintaining a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 in all school courses was also a prerequisite for this accolade. To find the students list Click Here.

John Clark, an agriculture education teacher at Buhler High School, expressed pride in the recipients. "These students represent the elite in agricultural education in Kansas, achieving well-rounded excellence through diverse challenges," he stated.

Russell Plaschka, marketing director at KDA, emphasized the growing demand for skilled individuals in the agriculture sector. "With advances in agriculture, the need for young experts in high-tech machinery and research is more crucial than ever," he explained. This certificate is a step towards preparing a capable workforce to meet these evolving industry demands.

The program is supported by various industry organizations and employers, ensuring that the certifications are well-recognized and valued.
