The Kansas Department of Agriculture (KDA) will hold two animal health workshops this summer, with events scheduled for August 4 in Ulysses and August 6 in Perry. The workshops are designed for emergency management professionals, county officials, veterinarians, and livestock producers.
The afternoon session, from 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., will focus on livestock emergency preparedness. Topics include county livestock emergency response plans, livestock truck rollovers, animal disposal, and sheltering during emergencies.
The evening session, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., will provide updates on key animal health issues. Discussions will cover theileriosis, Asian longhorned ticks, New World screwworm, animal disease traceability, and secure food supply planning.
A networking dinner will be offered between sessions, allowing attendees to connect with industry professionals.Participation in both workshops is free, but advance registration is required. Interested individuals can register online or by calling (785) 564-7468.
