KCA event highlights future of cattle

By Scout Nelson

The Kansas Cattlemen’s Association (KCA) will host its 26th Annual Convention and Trade Show on November 8-9, 2024, in Manhattan, Kansas. This two-day event will bring together industry experts and cattle ranchers to discuss the latest trends and challenges facing independent cattle production.

The convention begins with member policy meetings on November 8 at 1:30 pm, followed by the Annual Membership Meeting at 3:30 pm. On November 9, the doors will open to the public at 8:00 am for the trade show, which will feature presentations on a variety of topics such as animal health, ranch promotion, commodity markets, and cattle nutrition.

Speakers at the event include specialists in animal health, brand investigation, agrochemical innovations, and livestock consulting. Guests will learn about innovative strategies, including the use of drones in agrochemicals and preparing calves for the feed yard.

A key highlight on Saturday will be a session on Real Kansas Meats, a new initiative to help Kansas ranchers secure fair prices, profitability, and long-term sustainability through advanced packaging, traceability, and marketing solutions.

The event also features a live benefit auction, a banquet, and a keynote address by a renowned livestock market analyst. KCA’s annual convention offers a valuable opportunity for ranchers to engage with industry experts and build a sustainable future for Kansas cattle ranching.
