Learn Gardening Tips with New Four Seasons Webinars

Learn Gardening Tips with New Four Seasons Webinars

By Andi Anderson

Gardeners looking to grow their knowledge this summer can join the University of Illinois Extension’s Four Seasons Gardening webinar series. This season, two new sessions will focus on native bees and crop rotation—topics that benefit any garden, large or small.

These free, live webinars are hosted online and begin at 1:30 p.m. on select Tuesdays. Each session will be led by Illinois Extension horticulture experts who will share tips, explain techniques, and answer questions from attendees.

The series focuses on home gardening, environmental care, and backyard food production.

The first summer session, Get to Know Native Bee Neighbors, is scheduled for June 17. This session introduces native bees—wild pollinators often mistaken for other insects.

Participants will learn how to identify native bees, where to find them, and how they support plant growth and biodiversity in home gardens.

The second session, Crop Rotation: Building Resilient Gardens, will be held on August 19. This session explains how rotating crops can improve soil health, limit pests and diseases, and increase productivity.

Even gardeners with small spaces, like raised beds or containers, will find useful strategies to keep their gardens strong.

Educators Sreelakshmi Suresh and Nicole Flowers-Kimmerle will present the summer series. Registration is required, and those interested can visit go.illinois.edu/FourSeasons for more details and to sign up.

Can’t attend the live sessions? Recordings will be posted to the Illinois Extension Horticulture YouTube channel about two weeks after each webinar.
