Purdue University is inviting community members to join an engaging program on at home hydroponics, a modern and sustainable way to grow plants without soil. This hands-on workshop will guide participants in learning the basics of hydroponics and provide them the chance to build their very own compact system.
Each participant will receive a complete kit along with seeds to get started immediately. The event is designed to make the concept of hydroponics easy to understand and accessible for beginners, while also offering practical skills for those interested in sustainable farming practices. By learning these techniques, participants can grow fresh vegetables and herbs year-round right from the comfort of their homes.
The program costs $40 per participant, and the registration deadline is October 6th. Space is limited, making early registration important to secure a spot. To register, participants can call 812-462-3371.
Purdue University emphasizes inclusion and prohibits discrimination based on race, religion, gender, disability, veteran status, or other factors. Anyone requiring accommodations, including interpreter or translator services, is encouraged to contact Tabby Flinn at 812-462-3371 or by email at carroll@purdue.edu no later than October 9, 2025.
This workshop not only teaches practical skills but also promotes awareness about sustainable and innovative farming methods. With hydroponics gaining attention across the U.S. as a way to meet future food needs, this program offers valuable knowledge for both young learners and adults.
Participants will leave the session with the tools, confidence, and inspiration to explore new ways of growing food and connecting with agriculture in their daily lives.
