On Thursday, July 18, 2024, Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan will visit a farm in Litchfield to spend time with 4-H students as they prepare for the Minnesota State Fair.

The 4-H Youth Development Program, with six million participants annually, enrolls approximately 65,000 youth ages 5-19 in Minnesota each year, making it the largest youth development program in the state.

Lieutenant Governor Flanagan will be joined by Minnesota Department of Agriculture Assistant Commissioner Patrice Bailey. The visit will provide an opportunity to engage with the young participants and observe their preparations for the upcoming State Fair.

The event is scheduled for Thursday, July 18, 2024, at 12:30 PM. It will offer a glimpse into the efforts and dedication of the 4-H students as they ready their projects and livestock for the fair.

The 4-H program emphasizes hands-on learning and youth leadership, playing a vital role in developing the skills and knowledge of young Minnesotans.

To attend the event and receive location details, members of the press are required to RSVP to jane.kolar@state.mn.us. Please note that this event is only available to credentialed members of the press.

The visit highlights the importance of youth involvement in agriculture and the significant impact of programs like 4-H on the community.

By supporting these initiatives, leaders like Lieutenant Governor Flanagan and Assistant Commissioner Bailey help ensure the continued growth and success of Minnesota's agricultural industry.
