Meet the 2025 IL Corn Communications Interns

Meet the 2025 IL Corn Communications Interns

By Andi Anderson

Every summer, IL Corn invites talented students to help communicate its mission while offering real-world experience. In 2025, the organization proudly welcomes two Communications Interns: Jennie Abbott and Lydia Rogers.

With strong backgrounds in agriculture and communication, both bring enthusiasm and expertise to support IL Corn’s outreach and advocacy work.

Jennie Abbott, from Orion, Illinois, grew up on a livestock and row crop farm. Her involvement in the Orion FFA chapter sparked an early passion for agriculture.

She is entering her senior year at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, majoring in Agricultural Communications. “I’m grateful for the chance to apply the skills I’ve developed at the University of Illinois to support IL Corn while continuing to grow both personally and professionally,” said Abbott.

Outside the internship, Abbott enjoys photography, outdoor activities, and spending time with family and friends.

Lydia Rogers, from Groveland, Illinois, developed her passion through years in 4-H, where she raised and showed livestock.

She’s been an active member of the Illinois Central College Livestock Judging Team and will begin her junior year at Iowa State University this fall, majoring in Agri-Business. “I’m really excited to learn more about IL Corn, share their mission with others, and grow professionally,” said Rogers.

Rogers enjoys reading, spending time with her animals, and being outdoors.

This summer, the interns will contribute to many key IL Corn projects, including Ag in the Classroom, legislative advocacy, marketing efforts, and the Farm Progress Show. Their work will help share stories of agriculture and connect with Illinois communities.

With Jennie and Lydia on board, IL Corn’s communications team is set for a season of impactful storytelling and engagement, powered by the passion of the next generation of ag leaders.
