Michigan Wheat Marketing Webinars Announced

Michigan Wheat Marketing Webinars Announced

By Andi Anderson

The Michigan Wheat Program announced its winter Wheat Wisdom Wednesday webinar series to support wheat growers with marketing education and financial planning. The free online sessions will take place during January and February and focus on improving business decisions during challenging market conditions.

Marketing plays an important role in every wheat operation. Winter is a suitable time to review marketing plans, study new tools, and learn updated research findings. The program designed this webinar series to help growers understand better ways to manage costs, prepare for market changes, and protect long term farm income.

Three online sessions will be held every other Wednesday using the Zoom platform. Each session will run for 60 minutes. Presentations will last 40 minutes and will be followed by a 20 minute question and answer period. Participants are encouraged to attend live to take part in discussions and ask questions directly to wheat specialists.

The first webinar introduces a newly developed wheat production calculator. This digital tool allows users to adjust input levels, yield goals, and pricing values. By changing these numbers, growers can quickly see how decisions affect total income. The calculator helps users understand where savings can be made and how production choices influence profits.

The second webinar shares current market trends and outlook information. This session helps growers understand price movements, demand changes, and marketing strategies that may support better planning. Learning these trends can reduce uncertainty and support timely sales decisions.

The third webinar presents research on the value of wheat in crop rotation systems. It explains how planting wheat can improve soil structure, reduce pest pressure, and support better crop performance in the following seasons. This research encourages growers to view wheat as a valuable part of sustainable crop planning.

Organizers explained that spreading marketing topics across several webinars allows participants more time to understand each subject clearly. These sessions also prepare growers for the program’s winter annual meeting.

Registration for webinars is required and available online. Admission is free. Through this initiative, the Michigan Wheat Program continues to support education, research, and long term development of the state’s wheat industry.
