This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Environmental Tour (E-Tour) hosted by the North Dakota Grain Growers Association (NDGGA). From June 26 to 29, NDGGA will guide EPA officials through central North Dakota to demonstrate the region's commitment to environmental stewardship in agriculture.
Throughout the tour, participants, including EPA representatives, will visit various local farms, North Dakota State University facilities, and agricultural businesses. The agenda includes farm tours, demonstrations of seed treatments, showcases of new technologies, and aerial demonstrations to highlight modern agricultural practices.
Ed Kessel, President of the NDGGA, emphasizes the tour's role in educating federal officials about the practical impact of regulations on local farmers.
"For thirty years, our organization has been at the forefront of working with government officials to reduce federal regulations that are burdensome to our members," Kessel remarks.
He further notes that showcasing the necessity of pesticides and advanced application technologies is vital for understanding the stewardship farmers exercise over their lands.
Originally established in 1967 as the North Dakota Wheat Producers, the NDGGA has long been a leading advocate for the state's wheat and barley producers. For over 50 years, the association has committed to providing its members with essential services such as education, leadership, proactive advocacy, and representation to enhance profitability and value-added opportunities.
As the NDGGA hosts this significant event, it continues to reinforce its dedication to both its members and the broader agricultural community by promoting sustainable practices and effective communication with regulatory bodies.
