Nebraska's Search for Dairy Champions

Nebraska's Search for Dairy Champions

By Scout Nelson

The Dairy Ambassador Program is currently seeking applications from high school juniors and seniors as well as college students across Nebraska who are enthusiastic about the dairy industry.

This program provides a unique platform for students to advocate for the dairy community, enhancing their leadership and communication skills through various promotional activities.

Participants in the Nebraska Dairy Ambassador Program will engage with the public at numerous events such as the Nebraska State Fair and agricultural literacy festivals. These interactions aim to educate consumers about dairy products and the industry's impact.

Additionally, ambassadors will attend important dairy industry meetings, providing them with a broader understanding of the field and networking opportunities with professionals.

Eligibility for the program requires candidates to be enrolled in a Nebraska high school as a junior or senior or attending a Nebraska post-secondary institution full-time throughout their term as ambassadors. A background in agriculture is not mandatory; however, a strong passion for dairy and effective communication skills are essential.

The program spans one year, from January to December 2025. Ambassadors will receive a stipend for their participation, with all approved expenses covered. Upon completing the program, they are eligible to apply for an educational scholarship worth up to $1,000.

Prospective ambassadors should visit www.MidwestDairy.com to apply. Navigate to the Young Dairy Leaders section under the Ambassador Program tab, then select Nebraska. The application deadline is December 15, 2024, with selected candidates being notified by January 10, 2025.

This initiative not only fosters youth engagement in the dairy industry but also empowers them to play a crucial role in promoting agricultural education and sustainability. Through the Dairy Ambassador Program, students can significantly contribute to their communities while gaining invaluable experience that benefits their academic and future professional pursuits.
