Northeast Beef Update and Tradeshow to Support Cattle Producers

By Scout Nelson

The Northeast Beef Update and Tradeshow is scheduled for Tuesday, November 24th, 2026, at the Pohlman Agriculture Complex in Norfolk, Nebraska. The event brings together cattle producers, agricultural professionals, and industry members to discuss important topics related to beef production, herd management, and new agricultural technologies.

The event takes place from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at 2301 E Benjamin Ave, Norfolk, NE 68701. An optional practical session is also available before the main program, giving participants an opportunity to learn about useful cattle management tools and practices.

The practical session check-in runs from 3:00 pm to 3:30 pm, followed by the optional session from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm. Activities include a Bud box demonstration, biometric ear tags, and data applications. These demonstrations introduce producers to tools and methods that can support livestock handling, animal identification, and farm record management.

Registration and networking take place from 4:30 pm to 5:00 pm. The main program begins at 5:00 pm with a Nebraska Cattlemen’s Update, scheduled until 5:30 pm.

From 5:30 pm to 6:00 pm, participants learn about beef cow reproduction and important traits that influence herd performance. The next session, from 6:00 pm to 6:30 pm, focuses on winter cow feeding and backgrounding. These topics provide useful information for producers planning their livestock feeding and management activities.

Supper and the tradeshow are scheduled from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm. This provides an opportunity for attendees to connect with other producers, meet industry representatives, and learn about products and services available to the cattle industry.

The evening program continues from 7:30 pm to 8:00 pm with a review of 2026 pasture conditions and an outlook for 2027. From 8:00 pm to 8:30 pm, speakers discuss the current status and key takeaways of New World screwworm, an important livestock health concern.

The final session runs from 8:30 pm to 9:00 pm and features a producer panel discussing technology in the cow herd. Participants can learn about how new tools and technologies are being used in cattle operations.

The Northeast Beef Update and Tradeshow offers an opportunity for cattle producers to gain practical knowledge, explore new technologies, and exchange ideas about beef production.
