Ohio AgriPOWER Program Opens Applications For Future Agriculture Leaders

Ohio AgriPOWER Program Opens Applications For Future Agriculture Leaders

By Andi Anderson

The Ohio Farm Bureau has announced that applications are now open for AgriPOWER Class XVII, a leadership development program aimed at preparing the next generation of agricultural leaders. This initiative focuses on building skills, knowledge, and connections among farmers and agribusiness professionals.

AgriPOWER is a 12-month program that brings together a group of participants into a shared learning experience. The program includes seven multi-day sessions, totaling 18 days of training, discussions, and field exposure. These sessions are designed to provide hands-on learning and professional development opportunities.

An important feature of the program is its exposure to national and global agricultural issues. Two sessions are held outside Ohio, including one in Washington, D.C. This helps participants better understand policymaking, government systems, and broader agricultural challenges. The second out-of-state session location will be announced later.

The program focuses on developing a wide range of leadership abilities. Participants learn how to use their personal strengths to become effective leaders. They also build strong communication skills, which help them interact with farmers, consumers, and policymakers. Understanding current issues in agriculture, food systems, and the environment is another key part of the training.

In addition, participants gain knowledge about the legislative process at both state and federal levels. This helps them understand how policies are formed and how they can contribute to decision-making processes. The program also encourages building strong personal and professional networks within Ohio and beyond.

Applications are open to individuals who wish to grow in leadership roles within agriculture. Candidates can apply themselves or be nominated by their county Farm Bureau, agricultural organizations, or employers. Detailed information about the program, including schedules and costs, is available on the official website.

The deadline to apply for AgriPOWER Class XVII is August 1, 2026. This program reflects the Ohio Farm Bureau’s commitment to strengthening agriculture and supporting rural communities through leadership development and education.
