Ohio soybean council offers 2025 scholarships

By Andi Anderson

The Ohio Soybean Council Foundation (OSCF) is inviting undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in Ohio colleges and universities to apply for scholarships for the 2025-2026 academic year.

These scholarships aim to support students pursuing degrees that contribute to the future of the soybean industry, including fields such as agriculture, business, science, engineering, and technology. Since its inception, the OSCF scholarship program has awarded over $500,000 to students dedicated to advancing the soybean industry.

For undergraduates, OSCF will offer eight scholarships of up to $3,000 each. Additionally, the $3,000 Robinson W. Joslin Scholarship will recognize a student showing outstanding leadership potential, honoring Rob Joslin’s legacy as a leader in the soybean industry.

Another $5,000 Bhima Vijayendran Scholarship will celebrate Dr. Vijayendran’s achievements in scientific research and commercialization. Eligible undergraduate applicants must be Ohio residents with a GPA of 3.0 or higher, have reached at least sophomore status by Fall 2025, and be enrolled full-time in relevant majors, including biology, bioengineering, chemistry, crop science, food science, and other agricultural disciplines.

For graduate students, OSCF is offering three scholarships of up to $5,000 each. These scholarships are open to full-time students conducting research in areas such as biotechnology, biobased materials, plant pathology, crop production, and soybean breeding, all with a focus on advancing the soybean industry. Graduate applicants must also be legal U.S. residents.

The application deadline for both undergraduate and graduate scholarships is January 10, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. ET. Scholarships will be awarded competitively, with funds provided directly to the educational institutions of the recipients. While the scholarships are not renewable, previous recipients are encouraged to reapply.

OSCF scholarships are a valuable opportunity for students passionate about agriculture and dedicated to supporting Ohio’s soybean industry.

These scholarships not only offer financial aid but also help foster the growth of future agricultural leaders. Interested students can find more details on eligibility and application procedures on the OSCF website.
