Paris Van Dyke Chosen as National Ambassador for Ignite 2025

By Andi Anderson

Paris Van Dyke, a member of Illinois 4-H from Clay County, has been chosen as one of two national brand ambassadors for Ignite 2025. The selection follows a nationwide search to find young leaders who demonstrate passion and dedication to youth development.

The Ignite by 4-H Summit, held in Washington, D.C., provides a four-day experience where high school students explore various topics including STEM, agriscience, healthy living, career readiness, and emotional well-being. This event brings together teens from across the country, offering them a chance to network with peers and industry professionals while enhancing their leadership skills. As part of her role, Paris will conduct youth interviews and share updates throughout the event.

“I have always been passionate about 4-H, and showing every year, I knew I wanted to give back,” said Paris, a freshman studying Ag Communications at Lake Land College. “4-H has had an immense impact on my life. It has taught me many skills and responsibilities in the barn and life.”

At the Ignite Summit, Paris expanded her skills in interviewing, learning how to ask insightful questions and create engaging conversations. She also gained experience in podcast production, improving her abilities in editing and delivering content. These new skills will help her in future content creation projects.

“The people were incredible, and their energy was contagious. You could immediately tell they were motivated by their passions, and that kind of designation resonated with me,” said Paris. “It was inspiring to see how everyone was aligned with a common purpose, working not just for success but for something they truly believe in. That's exactly what I aspire to do—be part of something that ignites that kind of passion and makes a positive impact.”

Illinois 4-H, part of the University of Illinois Extension, provides youth with the tools and guidance to become leaders, with a focus on hands-on experiences in various fields. Research confirms that 4-H members are more likely to contribute to their communities and pursue careers in STEM fields.
