Poultry Learning Event for Youth

Poultry Learning Event for Youth

By Scout Nelson

A poultry workshop is being organized to help young students prepare for the upcoming county fair season. This educational event focuses on teaching youth important skills related to poultry care, bird selection, and fair participation. It is designed for students from kindergarten through grade 13, making it suitable for both beginners and those with prior experience.

The workshop will take place on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Central Time. The event will be held at the Embassy Community Center in Fosston, Minnesota. It offers a valuable opportunity for students to learn in a supportive and engaging environment.

During the session, participants will explore different types of poultry that can be shown at county fairs. They will also learn how to choose and purchase birds that meet fair standards. In addition, the workshop provides practical tips on how to care for poultry at home, including feeding, housing, and maintaining bird health.

The program is free of cost, making it accessible to all interested students. Organizers encourage early registration to secure participation. Students must register online through the official 4-H platform by Sunday, April 5, 2026. Support is available for those who need help with the registration process.

The workshop is part of an effort to support youth involvement in agriculture and build practical life skills. It also helps students develop responsibility, confidence, and knowledge about animal care. These experiences can be useful for future educational and career opportunities in agriculture.

The event is conducted in English, and interpreter services may be arranged with advance notice. Organizers are also committed to providing equal access to all participants. Individuals needing special accommodations are encouraged to contact event coordinators at least two weeks before the session. For more details and registration click on the link.
