Register Soon for Spring Wheat Tour

Register Soon for Spring Wheat Tour

By Scout Nelson

The Wheat Quality Council (WQC) is inviting participants to register for the 2026 Hard Spring Wheat and Durum Tour, scheduled from July 20 to July 23. The event provides a valuable opportunity for individuals involved in agriculture, research, and crop management to observe wheat conditions directly in the field and gain hands-on learning experience.

The tour will begin and conclude in Fargo, North Dakota, while covering different routes across the state during the four-day program. Participants will visit several field locations where they will evaluate crop conditions and learn practical methods for estimating yield potential.

Each tour group will include experienced participants who will provide guidance and training throughout the event. Attendees will also have the chance to identify possible insect and disease problems that could impact wheat production and quality.

“This tour offers an excellent opportunity to see this year’s crop firsthand, while learning in the field about yield estimation and identifying potential insect and disease issues that may affect production,” said Sean Finnie, Ph.D., Interim Executive Director of the Wheat Quality Council.

The tour is designed to support a better understanding of crop development and production challenges. It also allows participants to exchange knowledge with industry professionals and agricultural experts while observing real field conditions.

Hotel room blocks have been arranged for participants traveling from outside the area. The registration fee is $350 for Wheat Quality Council members and university or government registrants. Individuals who do not fall under these categories will pay a registration fee of $445. The fee includes all evening meals and educational handout materials provided during the event.

The Wheat Quality Council has emphasized that registrations should be completed by July 15 to secure meal arrangements and vehicle assignments for the tour. Since participation is limited, interested individuals are encouraged to register as soon as possible.

Those wishing to participate can contact Sarah Henry for registration and additional details.
