Landus, a major agricultural solutions cooperative based in Iowa, announced Sam Caton as its interim Chief Executive Officer on April 8, 2025. In addition to his new role, Caton will continue serving as Executive Vice President of Sales.
The appointment comes as the organization begins its transition process and search for a permanent CEO. Matt Chambers, Chairman of the Board at Landus, expressed strong confidence in Caton’s leadership. “His sincere appreciation for the farmer-owners we serve has quickly built trust within the organization,” said Chambers. “We have full faith in his leadership as we start the next chapter at Landus.”
Caton’s first priority as interim CEO is to guide the CEO selection process. He emphasized the importance of listening to Landus' farmer-owners throughout this effort. “I’m honored, and frankly humbled, to be trusted with the exciting task of leading Landus forward,” said Caton. “The best way to do so is with the guidance of our farmers.”
To ensure farmer voices are central to the process, Caton plans to create open lines of communication. His approach focuses on transparency and collaboration, which Landus officials say reflects the cooperative’s core values.
As Landus enters this leadership transition, the company reassures its stakeholders—including farmer-owners, employees, and partners—that it remains fully committed to advancing the future of agriculture.
The leadership team is confident that Caton’s experience and understanding of the cooperative model will help maintain stability and progress during this important time.
