SDSU Invites Hosts for Annies Project 2026

SDSU Invites Hosts for Annies Project 2026

By Scout Nelson

South Dakota State University (SDSU) Extension is looking for individuals or organizations interested in hosting Annie’s Project in their community during 2026. This special program is designed to support women involved in agriculture by providing them with education, networking opportunities, and practical resources.

SDSU Extension will select two communities in 2026 to host this impactful program. Those who wish to apply are encouraged to reach out to Robin Salverson, SDSU Extension Cow/Calf Field Specialist. The Extension team and local hosts will work together to manage event logistics and promotion efforts.

Having a local partner makes a big difference in the success of Annie’s Project. “Do you value education? Do you value time with like-minded people, networking and learning together? Do you value understanding risk management tools to benefit your farm or ranch and an environment where you can share experiences?” said Salverson. “If you answered yes, Annie’s Project should be held in your community.”

Annie’s Project helps women in farming and ranching build confidence, connect with others, and take on active roles in their family operations. It focuses on improving financial recordkeeping, marketing strategies, retirement and estate planning, production, and communication skills.

The program runs for six weeks, giving participants a chance to learn in a supportive, friendly setting while also having fun.

For anyone interested in bringing Annie’s Project to their area, now is the time to connect with Robin Salverson. Together with SDSU Extension, hosts will create a meaningful learning experience for women in agriculture.

This opportunity offers a way for communities to support farm women, strengthen local agriculture, and promote education and networking across South Dakota.
