Nebraska Extension is hosting a workshop to assist agricultural businesses in filing their Beneficial Ownership Interest (BOI) reports. The session will be held on Tuesday, March 11, from 1:00 to 1:30 p.m. at the Panhandle Research, Extension, and Education Center in Scottsbluff.
Jessica Groskopf, a Nebraska Extension Educator, will lead the workshop, providing step-by-step guidance on the filing process. Participants will learn about BOI reporting requirements and how to ensure compliance.
The Corporate Transparency Act (CTA), passed in 2021, requires businesses, including many farms and ranches, to submit beneficial ownership details to the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN). Entities formed or registered before January 1, 2024, must file their BOI reports by March 21, 2025. The requirement applies to most organizations registered with a state office, such as limited liability companies (LLCs), while sole proprietorships, joint ventures, and general partnerships are generally exempt unless formally registered.
The workshop is free, but pre-registration is required by March 10. To register, contact the Panhandle Research, Extension, and Education Center at 308-632-1230. The event may be canceled if there are not enough participants.
