On December 10, 2024, agricultural professionals will gather at the Wagner Movie Theater Banquet Room for the Managing Soil - Maximizing Profit Meeting. This full-day event, running from 9:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., will cover critical topics in agricultural profitability and soil management.
The agenda begins with Peter Sexton and Anthony Bly discussing the impact of tillage practices, crop rotation, and soil health from 9:45 a.m. Jim Williams will then present local strategies for boosting beneficial microbes at 11:00 a.m.
A noon lunch break precedes the Southeast Research Farm Annual Business Meeting, which includes board elections from 12:45 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Afternoon sessions will feature Brian Johnson on integrating cattle into crop systems for enhanced profitability and Kevin Sedivec on the benefits of grazing cover crops.
The event will wrap up with a panel discussion, providing an opportunity for attendees to delve deeper into the subjects presented and exchange ideas on applying these practices on their farms.
Registration is required, with a fee of $25, though it is waived for Southeast Farm members. This event also offers continuing education credits for those certified as crop advisors.
