The Agricultural Business Club at the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) is committed to “Forming Tomorrow’s Leaders in Agriculture Today.” With a strong focus on career readiness and leadership, the club gives students the tools and connections they need for a future in agriculture.
The club’s mission is to help students explore careers in the ag industry through internships, job shadowing, full-time jobs, and a structured mentorship program. It encourages both personal and professional growth, offering students a space to develop essential skills.
General club meetings take place once a month on the third Thursday. In addition, various events are held throughout the semester. Students can find updates and locations on Instagram at @agbusclubatisu.
Leadership opportunities are plentiful. The club is led by a team of 10 elected officers and features 10 active committees. Each committee includes a chair, secretary, and several members who help plan events such as industry tours, leadership dinners, golf outings, and mixers with employers. These activities give students direct exposure to professionals and insights into ag careers.
Events like the Pre-Career Fair Mixer and industry networking dinners are a highlight, offering students meaningful engagement with employers. These events not only help build resumes but also create lasting connections in the agricultural field.
Membership is open to all ISU students, though those seeking executive roles must major in agricultural business. While most members come from CALS, the club welcomes anyone with an interest in agriculture.
What makes the Agricultural Business Club unique is its strong legacy of excellence. It has won the AAEA Outstanding Chapter Award 19 times in 24 years. With a mix of fun, learning, and leadership, the club is a hub for students serious about a future in agriculture.
