Spur Ventures launches at AgConverge Conference

Spur Ventures launches at AgConverge Conference

By Scout Nelson

Agricultural innovators, entrepreneurs, and producers will gather in Gothenburg, Nebraska, on November 24 for the inaugural AgConverge Conference, an event focused on advancing innovation, technology, and entrepreneurship in the agriculture industry.

Hosted by Spur Ventures in collaboration with the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Department of Biological Systems Engineering and the Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources, alongside Bayer Crop Science, the event will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Bayer Crop Science Water Utilization Center. Attendance is free for producers and students, with advance registration required.

AgConverge aims to bring together industry leaders, researchers, investors, startup founders, and students to discuss how modern technology and entrepreneurial thinking can improve food production, water management, and energy efficiency. The conference will also mark the official launch of Spur Ventures, a new initiative supporting agricultural entrepreneurship and industry collaboration.

“Spur AgConverge is the right place to introduce Spur Ventures to Nebraska and beyond,” said Ankit Chandra, director and lecturer of entrepreneurship and founder of Spur Ventures. “We’re moving past conversation to implementation, and this event reflects the momentum we’re building.”

A highlight of the conference will be the Farm Tech Adoption Challenge, a unique competition that reverses the traditional startup pitch model. Instead of startups competing for funding, producers evaluate startup technologies to determine their practicality, effectiveness, and adoption potential in real-world farm operations.

“Spur AgConverge is building connections,” said Mark Stone, department head of Biological Systems Engineering. “Nebraska is already a global leader in agriculture, but through events like this, we’re building bridges between entrepreneurs, industry, the University of Nebraska and Nebraska producers to grow our state’s largest industry.”

The conference will also feature panel discussions, technology showcases, and networking opportunities aimed at fostering collaboration and advancing Nebraska’s leadership in agricultural innovation.
