Stateline Dairy and Ag Outlook Seminar Focuses on Markets Management

Stateline Dairy and Ag Outlook Seminar Focuses on Markets Management

By Andi Anderson

Agricultural professionals and farmers will have an opportunity to gain valuable insights at the upcoming Stateline Dairy and Ag Outlook Seminar scheduled for June 10.

Organized by Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, the annual event is designed to help agricultural lenders, financial advisers, and producers better understand changing market conditions and manage farm risk effectively.

The seminar will take place at Empty Nest Winery in Waukon and will focus on navigating change in agriculture through improved management, market awareness, and future planning.

By bringing together experts from multiple fields, the program will address both short-term market concerns and long-term farm transitions.

According to Jennifer Bentley, dairy field specialist with ISU Extension and Outreach, the seminar has a clear purpose. “By combining livestock market outlooks with practical farm transition strategies, this seminar helps producers plan not just for next year, but for the next generation,” Bentley said. She added, “Understanding the ag markets and strategies to allow the next generation to continue farming is a necessary part of lender portfolio management.”

Several expert led presentations are planned. Topics include estate planning tools to help families protect farm assets, alternative strategies such as share milking and leasing to support dairy farm entry, and a detailed look at the future of the dairy industry.

Attendees will also hear a livestock market outlook presented by an agricultural marketing specialist and take part in an interactive discussion focused on farm transition planning.

Check in for the seminar begins at 9:30 a.m., with the program running from 10 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Pre-registration is required by June 3. The registration fee is $100 for agricultural lenders and service providers and $25 for dairy and agricultural producers and students.

Agricultural lenders and advisers are encouraged to attend and to invite the producers they work with. Additional details and the full agenda are available through the ISU Dairy Team website.
