U.S. Forest Service Responds to Carolina Wildfires

By Jamie Martin

The U.S. Forest Service is actively responding to multiple wildfires across North Carolina and South Carolina following a Red Flag Warning issued over the weekend. Dry conditions and storm-damaged timber have increased wildfire risks, prompting immediate containment efforts.

The agency is monitoring the situation closely and will deploy additional resources as needed. U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins emphasized the government's commitment to supporting firefighting teams.

“The brave men and women of the U.S. Forest Service began responding immediately to the fires in the Carolinas,” said Secretary Rollins. “We will ensure they have the resources, personnel, and support they need to swiftly put out the fires.”

Firefighters are working with state and local emergency teams to prevent further spread. Weather forecasts predict rainfall midweek, which may aid containment efforts. However, officials remain prepared for an active fire season in the southern U.S.

Secretary Rollins is scheduled to visit the affected areas on Friday, depending on conditions, to assess the response and provide further support. The U.S. Forest Service continues to coordinate with partners to ensure an effective and rapid wildfire response.
