Armada Township has celebrated the opening of a new emergency services center designed to strengthen public safety and improve emergency response capabilities for local residents.
The project was supported by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development through a grant of $2.25 million, which helped fund the expansion, renovation, and consolidation of local fire and emergency medical service facilities.
The investment has resulted in a modern emergency services center that brings fire and emergency medical operations together under one roof. By combining these essential services into a single facility, the township aims to improve efficiency, coordination, and response times during emergencies.
The new center covers more than 10,000 square feet and includes upgrades that address previous building deficiencies while improving safety and functionality. Renovations ensured compliance with building codes and created a better working environment for firefighters, paramedics, and other emergency personnel who serve the community.
Dom Restuccia, USDA Rural Development Michigan State Director, highlighted the significance of the project and the impact of rural infrastructure investments. He said, “Under the leadership of President Donald J. Trump and Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins, communities like Armada Township are seeing significant improvements in public safety resources and critical infrastructure. Today, we see another example of how USDA Rural Development is making an impact in communities across Michigan.”
The project reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen essential services in rural communities. Reliable emergency facilities play a vital role in protecting residents, responding to emergencies, and supporting public safety operations. Modern infrastructure also helps first responders perform their duties more effectively and safely.
Congresswoman Lisa McClain (MI-09) emphasized the importance of investing in emergency personnel and community safety. She stated, “Armada's firefighters and paramedics show up for their community day and night. Our first responders deserve a station equipped to meet the demands of the job. I'm proud to bring $2.25 million back to our community to support the men and women who keep our families safe. This investment will strengthen emergency response and make a lasting difference for families across Armada Township and surrounding communities. The Armada Township and USDA Rural Development helped make these upgrades possible.”
Funding for the project was provided through USDA Rural Development’s Community Facilities Loan and Grant Program. The program supports the development and improvement of essential facilities that enhance quality of life and community well-being in rural areas.
Beyond public safety projects, USDA Rural Development invests in programs that support economic growth, infrastructure improvements, healthcare, education, housing, and broadband access in rural communities. These investments help create stronger, safer, and more resilient communities across the country.
The completion of Armada Township’s new emergency services center demonstrates how targeted infrastructure funding can improve local services, support first responders, and provide long-term benefits for residents. The facility will serve as a valuable resource for the township and surrounding areas for many years to come, ensuring that emergency personnel have the tools and space needed to respond effectively when their communities need them most.
