USDA Trade Mission Targets Ghana Markets 2026

USDA Trade Mission Targets Ghana Markets 2026

By Jamie Martin

The USDA Foreign Agricultural Service has opened applications for the 2026 Agribusiness Trade Mission to Accra, Ghana. The mission will take place from September 22 to 25, with applications closing on July 1, 2026.

This initiative helps U.S. exporters expand into international markets by connecting them directly with buyers in West Africa. The mission focuses on Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, and other nearby countries where demand for agricultural products continues to grow.

“This mission to Ghana is a chance to introduce buyers from across West Africa to the highest-quality goods America’s farmers, ranchers, and producers have to offer,” said Luke J. Lindberg, the USDA Under Secretary for Trade and Foreign Agricultural Affairs.

He added, “Expanding our export footprint here brings America’s bounty to new markets and brings new sales back to rural America, building strong farms and communities for generations to come.”

In 2025, U.S. agricultural exports to Ghana reached $175 million. While poultry and prepared foods lead to current exports, the USDA expects rising demand across many other products in the region.

Products with strong potential include beef, poultry, animal genetics, grains, soybeans, animal feed, dairy products, milk powders, seafood, and forestry goods. Increasing interest is also seen in health-focused food products and beverages.

Participants in the mission will benefit from structured business meetings with qualified buyers. In addition, USDA specialists will provide market insights, organize site visits, and host networking sessions to enhance understanding of regional trade conditions.

These trade missions play an important role in strengthening global market access for U.S. producers, increasing export sales, and supporting economic growth in agricultural communities.

Businesses interested in exploring West African opportunities are encouraged to apply before the July 1, 2026, deadline by visiting: www.fas.usda.gov/topics/trade-missions/ghana-september-2026.
