The Michigan State University (MSU) Extension vegetable team has announced the 2025 "MI Ag Ideas To Grow With" webinar series. Scheduled for February, this event offers insightful sessions for gardening enthusiasts, vegetable growers, and direct marketers.

The series covers topics like community gardening, sustainable production methods, and direct-to-consumer marketing. Each session features expert speakers who share their knowledge and practical tips to help participants improve their vegetable-growing skills and business strategies.

Webinar Schedule:

Monday, Feb. 24 (9–10 a.m.): Getting Going - Lessons Learned in Community Gardening

Two community organizers, Nickole Keith and Ashley Hines, share experiences from their food sovereignty and garden education projects, focusing on community growth and development.

Tuesday, Feb. 25 (9–10 a.m.): Froots - Pumpkins, Squash, Melons, Cucumbers

Salta Mambetova and Ben Phillips discuss effective production techniques for these crops, offering guidance for maximizing yields.

Wednesday, Feb. 26 (9–10 a.m.): Shoots - Asparagus and Rhubarb

Experts Ben Werling and Ben Phillips provide insights into growing these spring-harvested perennial vegetables.

Thursday, Feb. 27 (9–10 a.m.): Roots - Potatoes

Nicolle Ritchie and Chris Galbraith share advice on cultivating potatoes, focusing on soil health and sustainable practices.

Friday, Feb. 28 (10–11 a.m.): Starting with Direct Sales

Mariel Borgman explores direct-to-consumer sales options, helping growers align their marketing strategies with their farm goals.
