By Blake Jackson

The 2025 County Extension Council Family Farm Field Day is set for Saturday, August 23, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Loretto Motherhouse Farm, 515 Nerinx Road, Nerinx, Kentucky.

This free community event offers educational sessions, family activities, and plenty of opportunities to connect with local agriculture experts.

Attendees will hear from University of Kentucky specialists, including Dr. Ray Smith, Dr. John Grove, and Dr. Amanda Gumbert, who will share their expertise on forage and pasture management, the value of conservation practices, and soil health and testing. These topics are designed to help farmers and landowners improve productivity and sustainability.

In addition to the educational programs, guests can enjoy a complimentary lunch provided by the Marion County Cattlemen. Fun activities will also be available for children, making the event suitable for the whole family.

Door prizes will be given away throughout the day, adding to the excitement. For participants in the County Agricultural Investment Program (CAIP), attendance will count toward educational requirements.

Pre-registration is encouraged and can be completed online at https://forms.gle/APAARujhuuQzG8zQA. For more information, contact Chelsea Sapp at 270-692-2421 or via email at chelsea.sapp@uky.edu.
