2025 Watershed Conference - Farm Conservation Focus

2025 Watershed Conference - Farm Conservation Focus

By Blake Jackson

Scheduled for Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at Ben Franklin TechVentures in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, this year’s Watershed Conference embraces the theme “Back to Basics,” highlighting the core components of watershed health soil, water, geology, ecosystems, and the people who protect them.

The event is tailored for a wide range of participants, including farmers, municipal leaders, engineers, educators, and community volunteers, offering sessions designed to support each group’s role in watershed stewardship.

A standout feature of the 2025 conference is the Farm Conservation track, which focuses specifically on the agricultural sector. Designed for those working in or with agriculture, this series will offer practical tools and knowledge to help improve both environmental outcomes and farm productivity.

Farm-focused sessions include:

  • Digging into Farm Conservation: Explore how Pennsylvania supports agricultural conservation through training, funding opportunities, and partnerships that empower landowners and conservation professionals.
  • What Are These Farm Plans? Do I Need One? Understand the fundamentals of agricultural conservation plans and their role in sustainable farm management.
  • Smooth Operations: Discover how engineering solutions can address resource concerns on farms, improve efficiency, and support long-term sustainability.
  • Buffering the Farm: Learn the value of vegetated buffers around ponds and streams, and how they contribute to farm health, ecosystem services, and regulatory compliance.

Other conference tracks include Back to Basics, Volunteer, and Technical, with sessions that may qualify engineers for continuing education credits.

Penn State Extension, through The Center for Agricultural Conservation Assistance Training, proudly sponsors the event and serves on its steering committee. Extension educators will lead hands-on farm conservation sessions grounded in current research and field expertise.

Registration is $75 and includes morning refreshments, lunch, and full access to conference sessions. Register today to secure your spot.
